SHARED Event: Embedding Play in Youth Settings

On Thursday 24th November, we are hosting a SHARED event in collaboration with Playboard.

This event provides the opportunity for the youth work sector to meet together, along with officials from the statutory youth sector, the Department of Education and others to explore the role of Play in the emotional and wellbeing needs of children and young people.

The event will be held in Clandeboye Courtyard at 10am – 1pm.

Lunch will be provided.

Youth Work Alliance OCN 2 Workshops

Youth Work Alliance are offering training on understanding digital spaces for youth workers.

OCN level 2 Understanding Digital Spaces for Youth Workers, 5 credits at level 2 across 2 units, Gaming & Gambling and Digital Resilience.

There are 3 sessions available:

Starting 23rd November 2022, 9.30am

Starting 8th December 2022, 9.30pm

Corrymeela Shared Education Baseline Survey

This survey is being conducted as part of the Corrymeela Shared Education Project.

Your participation will help increase our understanding of the youth sector’s engagement with cross-community, good relations, and partnership programmes, ahead of future Shared Education projects.

This will help to ensure that future projects are designed and delivered in a way that brings the greatest benefits to participants and other stakeholders.

Corrymeela Shared Education in Youth Work Training

Ahead of future funding opportunities, these trainings will support the development of shared education practice within the youth sector.

Shared education is a long-term model of sustainable partnership and relationship-building between youth groups from different communities. It offers opportunities of encounter for young people and collaboration for youth workers.

These trainings will explore the background of shared education and its potential application within the youth sector. It will provide guidance on partnership development and gather feedback from attendees on the benefits or challenges of collaborative partnerships.

Stakeholder Engagement Event: Pathways to Employment   

On Tuesday 29th November, we are hosting a stakeholder engagement event on pathways to employment.

The purpose of the event is to establish the views and opinions of young people and key stakeholders on the needs of young people in relation to “Pathways to Employment” and how youth services can best respond to this.

The event is being supported by four Local Advisory Groups (Mid & East Antrim, Antrim & Newtownabbey, Causeway Coast and Glens, Derry and Strabane) which are made up of a range of representatives from the statutory, community and voluntary sector, including young people.

Youth Oscars

Applications for the Youth Service Oscars are currently open, with applications invited from within Film, Photography and Music mediums.

The EA Youth Service Oscars provides a fantastic opportunity for us to recognise the very successful work of children and young people that are at the heart of our community of EA registered youth groups across Northern Ireland.

The ceremony shines a light of positivity on the work that children and young people undertake in their youth groups and highlights the diverse skill set they have developed in showing the importance of the issues related to education that matter the most to them.

Closing date for submissions is 16th December 2022.

LGBT Comp

Ulster University creative competition is now open for submissions.

The theme for LGBT+ History month (February 2023) will be ‘Behind the Lens’ and that is the theme of the creative competition.  

They would like to invite young people to submit a piece of their own art/design/ photography/textiles/poetry/music/ literature/ representing:

“An influential figure of Theatre, Film, TV, Music or the Creative Industries in celebration of the upcoming LGBT+ History Month, February 2023.”
